The New Trend: Brow Henna

July 15, 2020

Have you been seeing the latest brow treatment all over Instagram? Henna brows are what's in! Longer lasting than traditional tint this brow treatment will transform the look of your brows.

What is henna?

Henna is a vegan, naturally derived product that unlike regular tints does not contain ammonia or peroxide. Not only does it color the hair, but it also stains the skin behind the hair to create a more defined, fuller and darker brow. It also is perfect for those stubborn white or grey hairs that resist color.

How long does it last?

Henna can stain the skin around 7-14 days, and stays on the hair around 5-6 weeks. The amount of time henna will last largely depends on your skin type and activity. For those with oily skin types, henna will fade faster. Lifestyle also plays a key part; swimming, excessive sweating, and skin care products can also cause the henna to fade more quickly.

Traditional brow tinting typically lasts 2 days on the skin and on the hair up to 4 weeks.

Who is not a candidate for henna?

-Those that are pregnant or breastfeeding

-If your skin is very oily

-Anyone allergic or sensitive to eyebrow dyes

-If you have had a reaction to henna in the past

Do I need a patch test?

We recommend coming in for a patch at least 24 hours prior to your appointment. A small portion of henna will be applied to your inner arm to check for any allergic reactions. A consultation can be booked online.

What is the procedure?

Before we apply the henna, we will map out a brow shape to suite your facial features and then create a custom color for your brows. Henna is applied to the skin for 15-20 minutes, the front portion of the brows can be removed to create an ombre effect.

What is the aftercare?

-Do not get your brows wet for 24 hours

-Avoid oil-based products

-Avoid rubbing and exfoliating the area as this can cause the henna to fade more quickly
